Various levels of government now seem to be encouraging a switch to electrical power from gas. BC generates its power using hydro, so that is supposed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Using electricity to generate heat is not efficient, but a heat pump is supposed to be good for moving heat around. If electrical demand in BC gets too high I wonder if they are going to require some more carbon generating sources. Some people get solar panels to offset the increased electrical use, but with the shade on our house, we might not be able to generate enough electricity.
