#MyBaachan 37. Inside the House
In the Commission house where my Baachan lived for three years, they did not have running water. They had to fetch it in buckets and use a wooden sink. They used kerosene lamps for lighting. This drawing is based on a photograph I took of the inside of a preserved house at the Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre, a national historic site in New Denver, BC, which I visited with my parents on a Nikkei bus tour from Toronto some years ago.
