The Week as of Mar 20

I have been reading Story by Robert McKee which is about screenwriting but deals with storytelling generally and so I was wondering about how it might apply to comics.

A side benefit of the pandemic has been the number of online presentations I have attended. This one was presented by the UBC Writing program, dealing with Readers of Colour, which made me think about how much I think about this with these comics. They do have different audiences, so if you don’t get one, it might be because it was not meant for you. Or it was just not that good.

This one was quite wonderful I thought. The exhibit is interesting on its own, but these presenters really made quite a difference in appreciating the material. The letters are not that interesting on the surface, but when you consider what they were not saying, it is quite poignant.

BC lifted its mask mandate for some reason. Now although I despised people who were not following government guidelines before, I am now making my own decision in the other way, so I don’t know what that makes me.

This was a long time ago, when I first moved to Vancouver almost thirty years ago.
