The main problem with teaching an old dog like me new tricks like playing in new goalie pads is in unlearning old tricks. Goalie pad technology has changed since my last pair of pads twenty years ago. They are much lighter and slipperier, and actually rotate on your leg when you go down. As a goalie, you don’t have time to think, you just move. But now I have to change some of my instincts. And I don’t really have practise time, I just play pickup hockey, so figuring this out is going to be a new trick in itself.
